Ponton Photo Festival 2025 - Open-air photo exhibitions

A total of four sites were selected for the first edition of the Ponton Photo Festival, with the aim of bringing photography to the heart of Pointe-Noire. The chosen locations are Rond-Point Kassai, La Poste, the Rotary Garden on Bord-Bord, and La Côte Sauvage.

The selection criteria were simple: to find green, beautiful, and open spaces that naturally serve as meeting points for the public. Whether passing by in a car, on a bus, in a taxi, or on foot, people can encounter photography effortlessly — an organic and friendly meeting with art.

The number of sites was determined by the available budget. Although five sites were initially planned, we ultimately focused on four, producing 60 display panels and 60 printed photographs, which were distributed among the selected locations.

  • Rond Point Kassai

Located in the very heart of Pointe-Noire, the Kassai Roundabout is a true urban crossroads where the city’s main arteries converge. Just a few steps from the A. Cissé Hospital and the French Cultural Center, this emblematic spot, enhanced by a small garden, stands as an essential landmark. Its selection as the venue for the Festival came naturally: a symbol of vitality and connection, it perfectly embodies the desire to make the city shine through photography. The vibrant work of photographer Robert Nzaou finds here an ideal setting.

  • La Poste

Right in the heart of the city, Pointe-Noire’s Grande Poste enjoys a prime location, surrounded by the immigration office, central police station, prefecture, main train station, and several banks. This bustling crossroads, visited daily by both workers and residents, serves as a vibrant urban hub. Adjacent to this iconic landmark, the Lion’s Club Garden provides the perfect setting for a photography exhibition open to all.

  • Jardin Rotary Club

The Rotary Club’s charming garden, located on the waterfront across from Tractafric, is a true gem of Pointe-Noire. Meticulously maintained, with inviting pathways and comfortable benches, it seems perfectly designed to host the Ponton Photo festival. Its serene, green surroundings make it an ideal spot for photography exhibitions, performances, and workshops. Without a doubt, it ranks among the city’s most beautiful public spaces.

  • La Cote Sauvage

Pointe-Noire has very few accessible public spaces—no gardens or parks to speak of. Its wild coastline is therefore the only place open to everyone. Popular with locals, especially on weekends, it provides the perfect backdrop for bringing art closer to the community. And what better way to do that than with a photography exhibition by the sea, where people naturally gather.
